Both of my sons and my husband have March birthdays.  This fact alone pretty much makes March my favorite month (lotsa cake!).  My littlest turned 2 yesterday and I got to spend a pretty fun and special day with him.  Here is a sneak peek of what we did to celebrate!

I majorly procrastinated this month. I put off shooting until it was “convenient” and ended up shooting yesterday, a day when we had nothing interesting planned to do! As I was editing photos for this post I realized that since my 2nd son was born I often don’t pick up the camera because it isn’t convenient.  I’ve missed capturing a lot of fun little moments these last 2 years out of “convenience.”  This just reinforces how important this 10 on 10 Project is to me.  I had a blast doing “nothing” with my boys yesterday… I’m so glad I brought my camera along!

Welcome to my first 10 on 10 Project posting! Words cannot express how excited I am over this little project!  This kind of memory-making is exactly what drew me to photography almost 5 years ago when my oldest was just a baby.  At that time, I was a first time mom and would spend my days marveling over how perfect he was and trying to catch every tiny moment that made those early days so special.  I am pretty sure I can count on one hand how many days I did NOT photograph my older son during his first 2 years of life.  I loved being able to freeze time through my lens. As he got older and more active and along came baby brother, our all day photo sessions became few and far between.

But I’m ready to get back there, to remember why I started shooting in the first place, even if it’s just one day a month! Which is where my new 10 on 10 Project comes in.  For one day a month, I will take 10 photos documenting our daily lives and post them here on my blog on the 10th of the month!

I loved my first day of all day shooting.  LOVED IT. It was a day that I worked at my older sons pre-school co-op in the morning so I was able to catch a million fun things that happened.  I may have gotten a little snap-happy while caught up in the moment… I ended my 10 hours of shooting with nearly 100 photos!  At first I thought there was no way I could pick just one photograph from every hour … but I succeeded!  I can’t promise I won’t bend the rules and share more than just 10 photos in the future but for my first installment I did narrow it down for you.  The really awesome “side effect” of this first day of over-zealous shooting is I now have dozens of new photos of my boys that I can treasure forever and remember how they were at 1 and 4 years old.

Like my Project 52, I am embarking on this journey with a small circle of very talented photographers and I hope that you click on the links to see their photos as well.  You can get started by heading over to Kate Suzanne Photography, Heber Springs Photographer/Little Rock Photographer and see her 10 on 10 right now!
